Like many of you, I have been enjoying music most of my life. Whether it's jazz, the big band sound of the 40's, rock and roll, or since the 80's, bluegrass, I have been an avid listener. Morgan String Band's first album "First Cut" has special meaning for me. I can sit back and listen to great music from my friends!

You will hear some of the most talented musicians in the business on a recording that projects their dedicated craftsmanship. It will difficult for you to find a "favorite" from their CD. I tried and failed. The band has put together songs that cover a wide range of styles. If you want solid, old time grass - try "Earl's Breakdown"; you want fresh new songs, try "Your Love" or "That's Right". Listen to the nostalgic but up-tempo rendition of "Grampa Was A Carpenter". All the songs on their breakthrough CD contain that basic drive for which all musicians strive.

The band introduces songs that talented Chris Brown has written. They are as good as it gets. The band's singing, song selection, their close harmonies and mastery of their instruments will give you all that you could ask for in a band. It is apparent that the Morgan String Band has put forth it's best effort for all of us to enjoy. This effort allows the Morgan String Band to stretch their musical prowess. It is unique in every way. First Cut is one album that you will not store away in your CD file; rather, it is likely that it will be held "in the ready" near your CD players.

I hope you will enjoy their recording as much as I did.
